Welcome to Olivia’s CaringBridge Site
Sign In to Show Your SupportWe can’t believe it’s been over 2 years since we have updated about Olivia. The two years goes along with the saying “no news means good news”. Olivia has remained stable, her transplant continues to be on hold. Her doctor restarted the medication that stimulates bone marrow production back in 8/21 while continuing to watch her closely with weekly/monthly blood draws. She is currently thriving as a junior at Depaul University. Her strength and determination continue to amaze us, pushing herself to keep up and thrive along side her new friends and explore new adventures while her body is working so hard. She has battled many obstacles, some which resulted in trips for mom and dad back and forth, at all hours of the day and night. But living and going to school in Chicago has given Olivia bigger wings to soar, definitely a city girl, which has given us a whole new level of worry with more gray hairs. One of the major side effects/risk of this medication is the development of cell mutations , unfortunately in March 2023 the drug was stopped due to the development of PNH clones in her cellularity. Without the medication her blood counts have been slowly trending downwards again. She has relapsed twice before so we continue to pray her bone marrow to stabilize on its own. Olivia is still without a matched donor for a bone marrow transplant. So please continue to Text FOROLIVIA to 61474 to encourage more people to sign up for the national registry through Be The Match. We are so happy to hear stories from people who have signed up to be a donor because of Olivia and have been matched with someone in need. It’s an amazing gift to be able give another person. Continue to keep Olivia in your prayers for healing and that she finds a chance for a cure.
