Oliver’s Story

Site created on May 19, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. Please check for an update here before reaching out to Elizabeth & Gregg. We will provide updates as we have them.

The story so far:
We welcomed Oliver Graham Stanley to the world on Tuesday, May 9 at 9lb2oz and 22” long. Shortly after his birth, it became clear that Ollie needed some additional help and he was admitted to the NICU. On Thursday, May 11, things became more serious and he was life flighted to UNC Children’s Hospital where he is currently on life support. Gregg & I are back at home where we are fortunate to be supported by family, friends & neighbors while we care for Guy and spend time at the hospital with Ollie.

There is a long, uncertain road ahead and we appreciate all your thoughts and love while we navigate this as a family, though we may not be able to respond to every message or call.

Journal entry by Elizabeth Monnett

We are so excited to share that Oliver is home with us at last! He is settling into life at home with a very rambunctious big brother. Gregg & I are elated, exhausted and emotional - there were days when the idea of him ever coming home felt like a dream. We thank everyone who reached out over the past month and sent kind words. That support has kept us going.

Our neighbors the McLeods have kindly created a Meal Train to help get us through the next few weeks as we adjust to being a family of four. If you’d like to sign up to bring a meal, you can do so at this link: https://mealtrain.com/325rg8

Finally, we are so incredibly grateful for and indebted to the amazing teams in the WakeMed NICU and UNC Hospital PICU who cared for Oliver over the past month. This happy ending would not have been possible without them.
