Obadiah ’s Story

Site created on December 26, 2023

Our precious Obadiah was due 31 Dec. Back in August we had a morphology (growth) scan which showed there was an issue with one of the chambers of his heart. We followed up with a heart specialist doing another scan to confirm he has hypoplastic left heart syndrome. We, along with people around the world, have prayed over this little man.  Thank you for being one of those people who have prayed over our precious boy.

Obi is now in the cardiac ward!
He’s going pretty well. Not quite chatty or smiley. But he’s been fairly settled. And is having a good sleep.

We keep trying to pull out the last cannula so mummy tried to get us to play with rings. But it only worked for a minute and then we fell asleep tugging on the cannula anyway. 😅😂

Heaps happened yesterday and he was quite unsettled most of the day and late through the night. But today has been heaps better.

His sats have been fairly stable and they’ve been able to wean some of the oxygen and high flow to a lower volume. But he’s desaturating a bit more than they’d like when he’s sleeping still so the doctors are still monitoring that. At this point though it’s not too much of a concern and will hopefully improve as he continues to heal and recover from the surgery.

He has developed some significant blisters and sores though. We only discovered them yesterday. We think they developed when he was super swollen. They’re pretty painful looking, but we’re getting a medicated cream to put on. Hopefully that will help clear them up, but for now we’re watching them closely and trying to keep everything clean.
