There have been obvious steps of improvement every day! Twice a week Norm received physical therapy (PT) and occupational therapy (OT) from home health until September 21. He had several different exercises to do each day. He moved from using a walker to walking around the kitchen holding on to countertops. It wasn't too long before he added using a cane around the house, then using a cane when walking outside. Last week he was happy to be able to go up and down a full flight of stairs. This week he started receiving PT and OT services from the Fergus Falls Hospital. He is walking without a cane and walked down to the lake today as well as to the stop sign on Fir Avenue and back. Therapists are doing a great job in promoting balance, strength, flexibility and endurance. He's diligently doing his exercises each day and hopefully working toward a full recovery.
We've been enjoying getting out a little more in the community. Norm has a fantastic attitude - no complaining or being ornery and hasn't lost his sense of humor!
I won't be writing anymore on this Caring Bridge site. Norm has been steadily improving.
