Journal entry by Nora McNamara —
So. I got the final pathology report from my surgery today. There was a "borderline tumor" on my right ovary. This is NOT a cancer diagnosis. I don't need chemo or radiation or any other follow up, other than check ups every 6 months, because this kind of thing can come back.
It's not totally benign, but it's also not cancer, so the news is good, but complicated.
Next week I'm going to tackle the insurance company again. My brother in law sent me a chilling article about how doctors at Cigna (and probably other insurance providers) just automatically accept thousands of computer generated rejections a month. https://www.propublica.org/article/cigna-pxdx-medical-health-insurance-rejection-claims What this article says is very similar to the things Aetna has been telling me. The good news is that once you fight it, they eventually give in, and my friend Sue is helping me fight. I'll keep you posted.
So, that's the news. I wanted to say benign, benign, benign, but I can't. So I think I'll go open the chocolate that Patti and Dale sent me.
