Journal entry by Shelly Trepanier

Hello Everyone,

This was my theme song (sing it with me) walking into chemo two weeks ago as I finished my 6 of 12 treatments. This last week I completed number 7, and this Wednesday I’ll be completing number 8 of 12!!! The countdown has never felt so real as I come upon completing number 8 and will only have 3 left after that. I am still so tired and achy. This Taxol is taking a toll on me. Mentally I’m in a good place, just physically tired.

I hope everyone had a magical Easter, to those who celebrate. I was blessed to have all the kids home and a trip to church. My heart was full. Ended the day with an amazing dinner at my mom and dad's before taking Andru back to college.

This last week I didn’t do much. I’m still making my way into work. Some days are harder than others, but I try to make it in on days I’m not booked with virtual meetings most of the days. For me, when I have virtual meetings, it’s easier to take them from home.

As I mentioned in my last post, I haven’t been finding much fun. I did have something fun come across my email though. Tim Renzelemann with Sheboygan Cancer Care Fund asked me to come speak to others who are fighting cancer. They continue to be awed at how I’m doing and my positive attitude during this difficult time. They would like for me to share my story and how I am dealing with cancer. If I can change one person’s outlook or life, I consider that fun and a success. On a side note, I was looking at the weather this week. I’m thinking with 60 degrees I'll find some fun in my day with a walk or just being outside with fresh air.

I will continue to keep you all posted. As I shared before, should all my numbers stay good and I stay on track, my last chemo is May 8th. I’m hoping after that I will get a PET scan to see if the cancer has been eliminated. Then I have surgery at Mayo on June 5th and follow up with 6-8 treatments of radiation. Yikes, still so much to do…
