Nick’s Story

Site created on May 27, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We SO appreciate all the prayers lifted on our behalf!

Nick has had a rough go of it as of late. He’s currently (as of 5/27/23) in his third multi-week hospital stay since Christmas ‘22.

We’re dealing with many difficult health issues including:
* EGPA - a rare condition where his body makes too many eosinophils (a type of white blood cell) that cause havoc in all parts of the body (organs, bones, muscles, joints, skin …)
* Congestive Heart Failure
* Chronic Kidney Disease and various stages of kidney failure
* Heart rhythm irregularities
* Diabetes

Newest Update

Journal entry by Nick Wilson

Oh how quickly things can change!

Our most recent update was less than a week ago, and unfortunately we are due for an update again.

Things are generally not looking good. Nick needed to be transferred to Ball Memorial Hospital’s ICU and spent a few days there dealing with extreme hypotension, harmful cardiac rhythms, extreme infection (septic shock.) and a whole list of other things. The PRIMARY issue right now is C-diff colitis. It is brutal. His intestines are so inflamed that internally it’s causing extreme shock to his body.

Here’s a piece of hope:

The outpouring of prayer from our loved ones alone allowed us to see how great the MIRACLE it is that he is still alive right now, even 24 hours after intubation, life support, maxing out on blood pressure drips. He was miraculously accepted to IU University hospital downtown Indy, where he took a cool helicopter flight to, and is currently stable-ish. Such a miracle.

Goals of today:

Continuous dialysis to support his kidneys gently

C-diff fecal transplant, a procedure that is his highest hope of living through this

Remain stable

We are CERTAIN we serve a God who has already performed miracles on my dad’s outlook from this point. Please pray as you have been!

With love,

Brooke (Nicks daughter)
