First, a HUGE thank you to all that have prayed for Nick, our family and the nursing staff. We have felt your prayers and are truly grateful.
Can I just say that life is hard sometimes?
This afternoon I received the call from the nurse and she suggested our whole family come down to the hospital. Nick had taken a turn for the worse and there was not much more they could do. Those are never the words you want to hear.
After a brief meeting with the PA, the five of us found ourselves getting gowned and gloved up, putting on our masks and face shields.
We entered Nick's room and had a time to talk to him, sing to him, and pray with him.
He was still fully sedated and on the vent.
At 42 years old, around 7:30pm, God called Nick home.
Sometimes there just aren't any words. Even as I'm typing this, I'm struggling to find the words to say.
For now I will end with this,
Psalm 23
1 The Lord is my shepherd, I lack nothing.
2 He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters,
3 he refreshes my soul.
He guides me along the right paths for his name’s sake.
4 Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever.
