Nick’s Story

Site created on June 27, 2019

Wednesday, June 26th, Nick was in an accident involving his mower while working. The mower slid down a slope and fell off a retaining wall, landing on top of him. He broke his right femur, and smashed his left heel. Nick went into surgery that evening and they were able to repair his right femur. Unfortunately, his left heel has suffered quite some damage and will take some time to heal. He is currently in ICU, due to having an open wound to keep for monitoring. We are extremely lucky to have Nick here with us after this accident,  as this could have been much worse. We thank God every day for those Angel's watching over him!  As we all know, Nick is a very strong guy and with alot of rest, time, and patience, he will recover! Please, keep Nick in your prayers!

Journal entry by Shannon Alexander

Nick has been doing physical therapy now three to four times a week for three weeks now. He will continue until February or March, depending on his progress. He gets really sore after physical therapy. They suggested he start using a cane from now on to prevent damage to his hip. There is quite a bit of scar tissue and the swelling needs to go down before the dr. Can tell if he needs any more surgery. If it continues to bother him, they most likely will do another surgery. After thanksgiving they will start to look at his Achilles to make sure it has healed property and if any surgery is needed. In the last they had talked about doing to surgery to either tighten or extend the Achilles. The bone in the heel that broke was attached to the Achilles possibly causing it to not heal properly. This is something they can't look at until it was healed more and swelling has gone down. Overall Nick is doing great. Back to work as normal as possible, driving, and just these minor bumps along the way as expected. And now that we can talk about it, enjoying every minute with Knox! Once again thank you for the prayers over the months we needed them more than you all knew!! Have a Happy Thanksgiving friends!
