Journal entry by Dr Mike —
Well........ Since my last update a lot has happened in the world. For some the events of this week have presented new opportunities, for some a week as usual, for our family a great loss.
Soon after my last update NIck's clinical course changed. His liver failure became more severe and his communication with this world at first dimmed but then ceased forever. Nick passed into the next stage- that of Eternal Life- which we know "will be granted to him oh Lord" . The date was Friday April 30 at noon.
For those interested in helping us celebrate this next and last stage of Nicks earthly life I have attached a picture of Nick when he graduated from high school. This is the Picture that will be attached to his Obituary and represents a time in Nicks life when life as an adult was just beginning. An Exciting time. I/m sure Carl, Cap, Tom, Gerry, and all of his classmates from the Academy feel deeply the emotions of those days.
I have also included a narrative that describes the days ahead leading to his burial next to our Mother and Dad in the Swanburg Cemetery located near Manhattan Beach near Crosslake Minnesota. The mass of Christian Burial will be next thurs and other details are included.
I hope many of you will consider coming up and joining us for a few days in the brainerd Lakes area. Great resorts, Restaurants, and in a few days you will get to see your classmates, Friends and relatives. To close the a day will gather at Manhattan Beach or a similar Bistro. This restaurant and resort was the focus of our families social life beginning in the the 1940's and continue to this day.
On behalf of my Brother Nick , Joy and I and our entire family, a big thank you and a big expression of our appreciation to the care givers who gave so tirelessly and compassionately these past few weeks.
Once again with gratitude.

Joy and i along with other interested folks will Gather at 9 AM at St Andrews to assemble picture boards, a digitized pictorial display of Nicks Life , and a one hour continuous music program of some sort that highlights Nick's interest in 50's music. Look for Chuck Berry and other pre rock snd roll singers to be highlighted! Hope there are has some ideas our there. If you have any give me a call at 218-330-1139. Music can be in the background as guests view Nick and visit!
Guests will arrive and be able to view uncle Nick from 10 to 11 AM.
Mass of the Christian burial will start at 11am celebrated by father Daniel Wieske The pastor at Saint Andrews. Nick has been very close to father Daniel over the years. He will have lots to say about his relationship/friendship with Nick from the pulpit. During the Mass we will have scripture readings and I will find a way to inform via Eulogy our guests about Nick as a youngster, teenager and young adult and in his older years. We have to identify six pallbearers. Four traditional catholic hymns will be played throughout mass. We ask those interested to come with us to Swanberg cemetary up in Timothy Township near Manhattan beach for burial at 1 to 2 PM. All (whether just at mass or who also come for the Burial) are invited to a get together at Manhattan Beach starting about 3-4PM. Stay tuned since this venue may change. This Lodge and Resort was the focus of the Musty family social life during the 50s 60s and 70s and continues to be a significant destination in the early years of the Millennium. Guests will be responsible for their own meal and Cocktails. Other considerations include Maucieris restaurant which is a pasta restaurant in Crosslake, Riverside, and the cedar chest all of which were favorite haunts for Nick during his days at the lake.
