Nellie’s Story

Site created on June 22, 2019

As many of you are aware my wife Nellie has been fighting a chronic leukemia for some 18 years now. She has been through a lot - multiple rounds of chemo, years of treatments and medications, surgeries and hospitalizations, and she endured them all without much complaint. She always stayed strong and positive. Never missed a day of work, raised our two children and built a successful career as a licensed marriage and family therapist. Two months ago, and after failing multiple treatments for her chronic leukemia, Nellie was diagnosed with a second acute form of leukemia called AML.  She had to stop working immediately and start very intensive chemotherapy treatment virtually overnight to try and combat this new leukemia and prepare for the only life-saving option available - a bone marrow transplant. We would appreciate your prayers, help, and support as we go through this very difficult time.

Journal entry by Emanuel Naydenov

Dear friends, we had the transplant done on Friday afternoon. It went well. Nellie was very tired but in good spirits. Now the struggle to fight the ill effects of all the drastic chemo is in full swing. Nellie continues to worsen each day. The doctors tell us this current low will last for another week or so before she sees a bit of improvement. Do keep us in your prayers as we go through this new challenge. Thank you for your generosity, care, and support. We owe you a huge debt of gratitude!
