Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Thank you for your prayers!

On 10/9/21, Neil had a sudden stroke. He was rushed to Mercy FF and then care flighted to Jewish Hospital. He had a procedure to remove the clot that was partially successful. He lost the use of his right side and speech (expressive ephasia).

8:30am:
Back we are - at UC to have surgery #15 on the airway. About two weeks after July’s surgery to put in the TTube, Neil had a mucus plug and inadvertently pulled out the Tube. He was taken to UC ER to have an emergency trach placed.

Originally he was going to have to wait 6 weeks for a spot in the OR to do the same surgery again, but doctor had an opening pop up today! So here we are with dèja vu repeating July and praying for better outcomes.

Neil is scheduled for 10:30a surgery but they are almost always delayed, so we wait for the opening. They are trying to do this round outpatient so we ask for extra prayers for no mucus plug emergencies and for no panic (on both of our parts).

Neil is understandably frustrated and feeling a bit hopeless about all of this. All the words of encouragement are wonderful and help him everyday! Thank you for those prayers and for all the support you all give our family ❤️🙏🏻. We couldn’t do this without you!

11:15AM:
Neil was just taken back to surgery! So now we wait!

1:50pm:
Neil is out of surgery! He did very well and Dr. was able to put in a larger T Tube this time. Hopefully we won’t have another emergency! Neil is just coming out of anesthesia and they’ll call me back when he wakes up!

3:00pm:
Neil is awake but groggy and they are kicking his butt out! Once he’s dressed they’ll send us home. The first few days will be challenging because that’s when he produces the most blocks in the airway. Hopefully the larger tube and prayers for calm reaction to a plug will do the trick.

Thank you for praying along with us today; Neil is headed for recovery ❤️‍🩹.
