Newest Update

Journal entry by Martha Anderson

Hello from the Minneapolis Airport!

I am going to try to get this update out before our flight boards so it doesn't land in the black hole of my "to-do" list.  Trust me, it's not an efficient or effective or elegant list. Things have been there since last July (Yikes!)

Neil and I spent the last 30 hours in MN  for his 6-month post-op scans and check-ups. I'm thrilled to report that Neil is showing great progress in healing from the surgery AND continues to be cancer-free on his scans.  Neil's surgeon, Dr. Rose, is so pleased with Neil's healing that Neil will no longer need check-ins with Dr. Rose.  And in December, we saw his radiologist, Dr. Peterson, for our last appointment. She is retiring soon, and we both feel so thankful to have been under her care. Slowly and steadily, the specialists are releasing us, which is an incredibly positive sign. Oncology will remain our team to check in moving forward.

Our next round at Mayo is in June. Neil will have another set of "serial" scans of his pelvis and chest, and he will be additionally scanned to measure the growth (if any) of the vestibular schwannoma. Catching up on the seizure/schwannoma branch of Neil's care, Neil is under the care of a local neurologist who is following through with all of the seizure checks. Neil had his first EEG this past week, and everything looks normal. He will have another in a few weeks. We will meet with this team at Mayo (neurologist, neurosurgeon, ENT)  in June to follow up on the findings they see in June.

OK...we're boarding, so I will sign off, and just press send without proofreading (the horror!). Thank you for your check-ins and continued care for us.  xoM
