*UPDATE* thanks to my awesome sister for making the post and staying with me while Jonathan stayed with Ava and kept her from knowing anything was going on other than "mommy had to go to the doctor" .
I'm home sweet home after managing to convince the amazing neuro ICU that I felt like I was out of the danger zone and had enough supportive care to go home to recover and finish PLEX
outpatient. As scary as it was to feel like I was suffocating in the ambulance (I have respect for many a first responder but not those guys), I hope that was my last time in an ambulance, ever. I hardly remember anything about the ER but my sister said a nurse who had a friend with MG happened to be on and quickly took over and treated me seriously & MG-appropriately.
I'm both frustrated and humbled that a stomach bug could put me in the ICU but I am also very encouraged how fast I was able to recover and re-stabilize with just BiPAP and other medical interventions. That must be big progress in this disease.
And also thank you for all the many prayers, I know they made a difference.
I love all of you and still reading your comments on my last post and so encouraged and feel so loved by you. You keep my head above water so much of the time.
This Steffi, Neely's sister. Neely went to the ER last night around 1am after catching Ava's stomach bug. She got so weak from vomiting, her body wasn't strong enough to keep breathing. Fortunately, the ER staff were quick to put her on BiPap and while at they initially thought she would need to be intubated, she responded well to having the respiratory support from the BiPap and we seemed to have prevented a full blown crisis.
They moved her plasmapheresis to today, so pray the BiPap and plasmapheresis do the trick, and that she can come home soon.
