Nathan’s Story

Site created on October 18, 2022

Our fun loving, big-hearted Nathan Keith of Plattsmouth, Nebraska is in need of your prayers and support! On Monday, October 17th, Nate was diagnosed with a High-Grade Glioma, which is a fast growing tumor in his brain.  Symptoms were originally noticed when he lost full function of the right side of his body.  He will have brain surgery on Friday, October 21st  in hopes of removing 95-100% of this tumor. If that is accomplished, he will begin further treatment including chemo and radiation.

If you know Nate, then you won't be surprised when I tell you that the very first thing he did after receiving this news was plan a party, including the many names of people he wanted to see (YES, in Hawaiian clothes).  On the back side of the paper with all of the details of his diagnosis was a list of the many people my mom should invite..  because he LOVES to be with those he loves and have fun...(especially when it involves Nebraska football).

Will you join us in praying for Nate's upcoming surgery?  First of all, that it is a success and that the doctors are able to remove as much of this tumor as possible without implication to any other functions necessary for daily living.  In addition, please pray that his recovery is smooth and that he can begin chemo and radiation soon-after. Also, please pray for my mom.. his wife of 14 years, who has found her soul-mate and wants nothing more than to be sitting on their swing together lakeside, for years to come!

We serve an Almighty God who can do amazing things and we are trusting Nate into His ultimate care. "Those who hope in the Lord will renew their strength," Isaiah 40:31.

Praise God!

Wanted to share some pictures from  a wonderful one-year celebration we had on the anniversary of Nate's brain surgery last year.. (also my mom's 65th birthday), October 21st!

Nate was surrounded with the family and friends he loves to be with.. and the Huskers even came home with a WIN...... GO BIG RED!! 🎉

We wore shirts to support Nate, that say, "In this family, no one fights alone," and we mean that, Nate!  The back of the shirt says, "Help the Keith's Kick Cancer," because as many of you know.. my mom also battled cancer  in 2019!  Over $500 was raised through these shirts... so THANK YOU! I have also included a link to their Go Fund Me, if anyone would like to support them in that way!

Nate's tumor has stabilized, although he does still struggle with balance, use of his leg/right arm, and fatigue.. which the doctor said should be expected.  He does PT regularly, which does help with these symptoms.

They will head back out to California next week for his MRI and injection as part of the SurVaxM trial, which he is still part of.  The doctor did share that only 6 of every 100 people diagnosed with this type of brain tumor make it to 1-year.. so we are celebrating that milestone!

Your continued prayers for his healing are SO appreciated!
