Journal entry by Nancy Nelson-Fidler —
What a week. On Tuesday I was admitted to the hospital. with a small colon blockage. It was and is from the cancer.
I was at work when it started. The pain hit out of nowhere and I knew what it was immediately. Left work, came home and took a codeine. I knew if I went to the emergency room it would be at least a 3 hr wait and I didn’t want to be in pain the entire time. The blockage is in the small colon. The surgeon stated this is the cancer. We do not want to do surgery and will avoid it as long as we can. See, if we do surgery the cancer will grow way to fast. This is why they would not do surgery in the beginning of the recurrence, the cancer is to widespread.
On Thursday I was released from the hospital and for the first time since Tuesday morning, I was finally able to go. The relief was truly wonderful (never thought I would say that LOL)
So, gonna add one more thing to the mix. Had bone density test on Sunday. Here are the results:
Bone mineral density in the lumbar region falls in the range of osteopenia
Bone mineral density in the femoral neck falls in the range of osteopenia
Explains 2 things.. the pain and why I could "GET DOWN" BUT COULD NOT "GET UP AGAIN"
I am beginning to realize that my body is slowly breaking down. Knowing that the colon issue will return again and that my bones are beginning to become brittle is making me more determined to complete my bucket list. One day at a time.. one step at a time!
