Journal entry by Dave Mann

Mom was is a car crash over a week ago.  She went to the hospital to get checked out as a precaution.  Everything seemed to be fine so they let her go home.  All three of us kids spoke with her that day and she seemed perfectly normal.  She was annoyed that she just spend money on the van, for normal wear and tear, and now it was totaled.  Otherwise she was in good spirits without any concerns.
After a couple days she was in pain and wasn't breathing properly so she decided to go back to the hospital last Tuesday (Feb. 1st).  As it turns out she had a broken rib, hence the pain and difficulty breathing as it was painful.  We were still able to talk to her daily although sometimes she was a little loopey due to the medication.  The goal was to get the pain under control and her breathing normalized.  The thought was that she might be in the hospital a day or two. However as every day passed it was always another day or two.
Mom told us that she was fine and didn't need us to come down to Arizona.  As the week went on and we continued to get updates and discussed the situation the girls felt they needed to go down.  They drove down together and arrived on Sunday, Feb. 6th.  Good call on their part as mom was placed in ICU that morning so she could be monitored more closely.
During the week her heart rate was high, her oxygen stats were low and her kidneys were having issues.  Her heart rate and oxygen stats are back to normal and her kidneys are doing better.  She still isn't eating as much as the doctors would like but Keri and Lisa are being mean, according to mom, and making her eat.
It is still painful for mom to take deep breaths and this has caused phenomena is one of her lungs.  The doctors are still trying to find the medication that does the trick for her as the strong stuff makes her nauseous and other medications more or less knock her out.  She had another CAT scan yesterday and we are still awaiting those results.
I'm under the impression that this is not a life threatening situation however that thought has crossed my mind.  We will continue to add to this site as we get more information.  In the meantime, we ask for your continued prayers for mom as she heals.
