Dear friends and family of Nancy Hartman,

It is with much sadness that I inform you that our dear Nancy departed her body today at 4:15 in the morning.  She was with people she loved and was not in pain.  Hers was a peaceful passing and she is now a part of the great mystery that enfolds all of us and to which we will all return,

But this is also a time of fond remembrance, love, and relief as we witness Nancy boldly and bravely make her final transition and do so with grace and joy.   Her last days, thanks to all of you, were filled with love and friendship and caring.  She was able to be in the company of her loving sister and brother and also of many of her dear friends.  She celebrated her 74th birthday last Saturday and there were many who came by to visit and share a moment with her.

Her legacy will live on in all of us, those who were touched and enriched by this bold, vivacious, independent woman.  Nancy did things her way and was always motivated to do good and help others.  She was open and honest about her friendship and always happy to pass an hour or two in meaningful conversation.  Her love of life (and dogs) was infectious and drew people to her.  We will all miss her greatly but are all better off for having known her.

At this time our hearts go out to Nancy's family, her sister Susan and her brother John, and wish them peace and comfort during this time of sorrow.  May the many joyful memories of their wonderful sister bolster them and keep them in good spirits.

I will keep you posted on what might be planned in remembrance of Nancy but I know she would be pleased if folks remembered her with a donation to your local SPCA or similar organization that helps out those sweet four footed companions that were so important in her life.  On that note, I would be amiss if I didn't mention that ZuZu, Nancy's little dog, will be needing a new companion.  Friends are pursuing some options and I'm sure she will find a good home but if you've met her and have a soft spot for her let me know.

Wishing you all peace and grace and fond memories of Nancy,

Nick Peterson
