One of Nancy's "mantras" since her Cancer diagnosis has been, understandably, "take it out, I just want it out." Unfortunately, it isn't always that simple because Cancer is a pernicious adversary; it likes to sneak around and make its way into other organs and systems. Therefore, in Nancy's case, the course of treatment called for an extensive program of chemotherapy before "taking it out." Well, today, she got her wish, and they took it out. The surgeon removed a mass of cells from her left breast, additional cells (margins) from around the mass, and two adjacent lymph nodes to be tested to determine if the "adversary" has attempted to expand its reach. Nancy is now home and resting comfortably. She is managing the pain from the two incisions with ice and meds, and should be up and around in a few days.
