Nancy’s Story

Site created on January 27, 2024

Hi friends and family. I’ve been diagnosed with stage 3 cancer. It has not metastasized so we’re very thankful for this. In the next 6 or so weeks, I will be undergoing radiation and chemotherapy in Sarasota, FL. I’ll be staying locally, with my daughter and her husband, during this time. As a way to keep all of you informed on my progress, I’ve created this page. I’ll be able to journal, post progress and just give everyone general updates. I love you all and hope this will be a successful way to keep everyone in the loop. More to come…

Happy Monday friends and family,

Mom has only 5 more days of treatment! Can you believe it? Technically next Monday will be her last day of radiation since they don't do treatments on the weekends. She is in the home-stretch but this is where she needs your prayers the most. She is feeling very weak and tired. It takes everything in her power to get her out of bed and motivated to move. It's hard for her to even gather the mental energy to write a post update on here. She did spend a few hours sitting outside on the front porch this past Saturday enjoying the beautiful weather. Her kidney function is declining (likely due to the chemo, which she finished a little over a week and a half ago) and it's hard to get food and fluids down from all the nausea. She feels very anxious and worried about the skin breakdown from the radiation. These are all things she could use prayer for: improved hydration, appetite, kidney function, energy levels, infection prevention, and decreased anxiety levels. Could you also pray for her bright light to return? The enemy is trying to steal her joy and we need to rally around her to restore the joy belongs to her!!

She has received a few greeting cards in the mail and some sweet text messages that have been very encouraging to her, please continue to send them! Remind her how strong she is, how she's been victorious time and time again in other battles that she's fought. Remind her to lean into Jesus through scripture and prayer when she is feeling defeated.

She will still have quite a few appointments after treatment completion to follow up with oncologists/surgeons & get IV fluids to flush the kidneys. Her follow up scans are scheduled for July.

Isaiah 40:31

"but they who wait for the LORD shall renew their strength;

they shall mount up with wings like eagles;

they shall run and not be weary;

they shall walk and not faint."

We can almost see the finish line of this marathon race and we trust that God will carry her through to the end 🙏🏼

Love,
