Journal entry by Nancy McCulley —
Six months in... I've completed the first round of chemo - 8 weeks of weekly belly injections that are quick and nearly painless, plus daily oral chemo for three weeks out of every four. This photo is from the October 2023 bone marrow biopsy that resulted in my diagnosis. The main side effect is fatigue, with only occasional aches and gastro-intestinal upset. I'm now on round two of the same drugs, but bi-weekly injections. Blood tests continue to show improvement. Because my immune system is compromised by the disease, I am susceptible to viral infections. So I mask up everywhere, and try to make reasonable decisions about where I go and the size of the crowd. I went to a five-day knitting retreat up North last week and didn't catch anything. So I continue to stay busy meeting with friends and attending events that I feel energetic enough to attend. Thanks to everyone who has continued to support my journey thus far!
