Nanci "Crashe" ’s Story

Site created on October 6, 2023

Welcome to our CaringBridge for our mom -- known to all by her iconic nickname, Crashe.

After retiring from private investigation, mom had many joyful years of shuttling back and north from Lynn to North Conway. In 2016, she sold her condo here and moved to St. Theresa House in Lynn, a terrific independent senior living facility. While she has fought back a lot of health challenges over the past dozen or so years, she had a series of falls this summer.

Since late July, has moved to the amazing Merriman House in North Conway to receive further care and support. (She has long said she wanted to come to the Valley for this chapter.) Unfortunately, the last two weeks have brought a decline. She has just moved back into Merriman House after a stay at Memorial Hospital, and she is making progress to feel better. We are working with her care team there to determine what the next period will bring.

Sean and I (James) will update the journal here to keep family and friends updated. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement, so please feel free to leave a message here or reach out to one of us! Thank you, and thank you for your support of our mom.

Newest Update

Journal entry by Jim Mahoney

Hello all! We are happy - and delighted -- and both surprised and knowing her, not at all surprised -- to report that mom is making serious strides toward improvement! The past two days have seen her come around to talking (joking), sharing stories, improving her motor functions and movement, and even ragging on her son Sean, who is with her through tomorrow.

Speaking of -- tomorrow, Oct 11, is her 80th birthday! If you'd like to text her a quick message or video, her cell phone # is (781) 258-1795. She is still quite able to reply via text, but she can read and see the messages -- and she would love to hear from you!

We'll keep you posted -- thanks to all for your care and kindness. We are really excited to see her rally. (Would you expect anything less from Crashe?!)

Love,

Sean and James
