Journal entry by Cynt Marshall —
Happy Friday, beautiful people. Kenny is home! Good Friday was a great day. 🙌🏾 Kenny was discharged one week ago from the UTSW Lipshy facility where he received speech, occupational, and physical therapy for eight days. While he is weak, 40 pounds lighter, and using a walker often for assistance, Kenny’s recovery journey has begun. He is supposed to attend physical therapy 2-3 times a week and go in regularly for bloodwork. We visited with Kenny’s new primary care physician on Tuesday, at which time we were told to continue to monitor his heart rate. It’s been above 100 regularly, so strategies are underway to get it under control. We’ll probably visit the cardiologist soon.
On Wednesday night, Kenny was moving through the house pretty fast on the walker. He almost ran me over as I was leaving our bedroom. That was a very good sign of progress. I had to tell the dude to slow down. 😂 Last night he asked for a panda bowl from Panda Express as I was leaving for our Mavs game. (We won! 🏀) That was another good sign. Kenny’s appetite is returning. We’ll bring in a personal chef next week to help provide Kenny with nutritional meals. I guess I will eat healthier too. 😉
We’re being told that Kenny should stay close to home for 100 days. Y’all know I’m going to outline a 100-day plan that’s going to be fierce. As the Mavs make a playoff run and we enjoy Luka’s race up the MVP ladder, team Kenny will continue to run his marathon and make progress. It’s busy. It’s exciting. It’s a miracle. God is so good. Thank you for your love, prayers, and support. 🙏🏾
