Journal

Today  is one month since surgery.  My recovery has been amazingly smooth.  I can honestly say that other than some soreness and discomfort at times, I never experienced what I would call pain.  I went straight to over the counter Advil and Tylenol in just a few days.  I slept A LOT the first couple of weeks and took it pretty easy which paid off when I was feeling up to returning to work last Monday.   My first week back was great, thanks of course to my amazing work family who checked on me constantly and kept me in check (or at least they tried to keep me in check).

The next phase of my journey begins Wednesday.  I will have 4 rounds of Chemo, one round every three weeks starting Wednesday.  It is pretty stout stuff with all of the fun side effects to boot, however in order to obliterate any micro cancer cells that may have escaped into my body during all of this looking to settle in elsewhere, it is necessary.  We are facing this just has we have faced all of the other stops along this journey, by giving it to God and letting Him have all of the control.   He has shown us his tremendous love and power and we give him ALL of the glory for so many blessings and answered prayers.

I can't end this journal entry without giving a shout out to the leader of my incredible support team, my sweet husband.  Ronald took off every single day I was off during surgery and recovery.  He laughed with me, cried with me, cried for me, prayed over me, and never let me want or need a single thing the entire time.  He drove in downtown Dallas traffic to appoinments and procedures (during which if he wasn't cussing he was praying).  He held my hand and wrapped me in tight hugs as we were delivered each "scary" tidbit of news. On June 24, 2000 he stood before God and promised in sickness and in health he would be with me.  He has proven over and over again that he took that vow to heart.

To each and everyone of you who has prayed for us, brought a meal, stopped by to check on us and made sure we knew how loved we are, we love you so much and will never be able to put into words how grateful we are for each of you. Please keep those prayers rolling.  I feel as if I am almost to the top of the mountain and the last leg of the climb is going to be the toughest. However, I also know that God has something amazing waiting for me at the top.
