Newest Update

Journal entry by Moriah Kral

Well we made it to a year. Max turned one on July 10th! So much has happened in a year but also in the last few months. I got lymes disease which took a lot out of me, we have been beyond busy with doctor's appointments, but we are also just trying to enjoy the summer. Anyway, I will start with the bad news.

Max has recently gotten a head shaping helmet due to the extreme flatness of the back of his head. He still isn't rolling from his back to his stomach. Max is putting food in his mouth but he will not actually eat or swallow it. He has lost weight since his last weight check which obviously isn't great. Lastly, Max has been diagnosed with cerebral palsy. Obviously this was a huge blow for us as we thought we were out of the woods but Max does in fact have it. This will mean more intense therapies for him, as well as medications and botox injections into his muscles. He will probably end up needing braces for his leg. Long term we do not know what will happed. Only time will tell.

The good news: Max is a very happy guy. His g-tube feeds are going well and he isn't spitting up. He is sitting independently. He loves to babble, loves to say da da da da all day long (still waiting on mama). He will sit and play for long periods of time by himself and loves to be outside with the "big kids". He love love loves his brother more than anything and they laugh really hard together all the time. He loves splashing in the tub. He yells at people that he sees if they don't greet him or talk to him enough. He will smile at ANYONE. He is an absolute joy, has the sweetest disposition and really is quite adorable (probably scientifically accurate).
