Morgan’s Story

Site created on September 2, 2022

Welcome to our CaringBridge website. We are using it to keep family and friends updated in one place. We appreciate your support and words of hope and encouragement. Thank you for visiting.

Morgan gave birth to a beautiful baby girl on 7/21/22 via c-section due to breech presentation.  Lucy spent a week in the NICU due to pneumonia but has recovered and is doing well. As Morgan was recovering from her c-section, she noticed her balance was still off and she was having a continuous bad headache for 3 days. She went to her OB's office, who sent her to to ER for head imaging.  An MRI revealed a very unexpected meningioma sitting atop Morgan's brainstem, causing some hydrocephalus.

Morgan and family traveled to Columbus, OH to have a VP shunt placed based on the surgeon recommendation. Morgan is home now recovering from the shunt placement and trying to sort through varied information and approaches that will determine where and when the resection of the tumor will take place (sometime this fall). Morgan is still having headaches and imbalance issues from the tumor as to be expected, but the VP shunt has decompressed her ventricles and that's a good thing.

Journal entry by Morgan Boes

Well my symptoms are bad enough that we are trying to make it to my surgery date by taking steroids. We hope those will help. I will try to keep this short as typing is difficult. I opened back up my meal train for when we will theoretically be home from surgery. If you prefer, local giftcards to places in Rochester or St. Paul are useful.

If food is not your thing, we have some yard work that Brian could use some help with or some house work as I'm pretty much out of commission right now. So if mulch, organization, or laundry is more your calling I'm home most days and could use a hand even before surgery. Send me an email at morgan.boes at gmail.com.

Every hour that someone spends to help means the world, and I promise to pay forward when I can.

xoxo,

Morgan, Brian, and Lucy
