Journal

It’s been over a month since the last update on Monica. When she got in her car accident back in December, her Doctors told us to expect  a 6-12 month recovery time. She is not close to 100% but her progress in the past 3 1/2 months is amazing and we are so proud of her strength, faith and determination to get better.

She continues to recover at home with Dad, Mom and her dog, Mortimer.  She goes to physical therapy to strengthen her legs and muscles and bought a treadmill to workout at home (Once it arrives)

Her dad let her drive to physical therapy once about a week or so ago. She was a bit jerky. She says she’s not afraid to drive because she doesn’t remember her accident but her dad was. She practices her tongue twisters her speech therapist gave her.  She talks on the phone with friends, family and her boyfriend. They have even gone on a few dinner dates.

While recovering at home, Monica discovered Grey’s Anatomy on Netflix and jigsaw puzzles.  She has completed 6, 1000 pc. puzzles so far with 2 more waiting to be started. Two weeks ago she  started her new job, full time from home. Her company has been amazing and very supportive and accommodating. She enjoys it very much.

She still has her trach tube in her throat which affects her voice and breathing.  Some days are better than others. In mid April we take her back to her doctor in Fort Wayne for another throat scope to determine if she with need another surgery to remove more scar tissue in her airway.  He said not to be surprised if that is the case…

We again want to thank everyone for all your love, prayers and support. Monica wouldn’t be where she is today without your ❤️  and we are very humbled and grateful.
