Journal entry by Rob Mulcahey

Molly has completed 10 rounds of chemotherapy.  The original plan was to have 6 rounds and then we added another 6 rounds because some doctors recommended it (but there aren't any definitive studies that show 12 rounds are more effective than 6).

After the December 6 treatment, Molly's white blood cell counts were very low and the doctors didn't want her to start the next round right away.  Her numbers haven't improved after 7 weeks.  Molly decided to stop treatment and the doctors didn't disagree.  They want to see her white blood cell numbers improve.

Molly had an MRI on January 25.  It showed that the tumor hasn't changed.  It's disappointing that it didn't shrink, but good that it didn't grow.  She will have another MRI in three months.  The MRI's will continue every three months for the foreseeable future.  If the tumor shows any growth, the doctors may recommend more rounds of chemotherapy.

Molly's energy levels are very good.  She has been going for walks most days.  She has been skiing as much as possible too.  She's already logged 10 ski days this year!  She stays on the easier ski trails because she doesn't want to get hurt but it's nice to get outside and enjoy time with our family.

We'll post again after the next MRI or if anything changes.
