You won't believe this....but it's true! We are home! Mitch met with the surgeon today, as well as the surgeon's team, and they all agreed that since he met all of his goals, he could go home today or tomorrow instead of next week. There was literally nothing else left for the hospital to do that couldn't be done at home. He can walk without aid, his intestines appear to have been sewn back together successfully and are working, and he can eat soft solid food. So we packed up and came home this afternoon. He still has a lot of healing to do. I know there is a list a mile long of complications that come with this type of surgery, but we move forward with faith that he will heal. If he has a complication, then we simply will return to Wake Forest.
Thank you again for going on this journey with us. It has truly been the most frightening journey of our lives, but yet we have learned so much from it about the grace of God. Mitch said that he heard a Christian show preacher on TV share that the Prince of Peace said, "My peace I give you." All we have to do is be willing to accept the gift of peace and not fight it with worry and attempts to control our own lives.
Again, thank you for all your prayers and concern! We have been blessed way beyond anything we deserve, but then again, you are simply showing God's grace, which is giving us what we don't deserve. Thanks for being such good friends, neighbors, and family. We love you!
