Journal entry by Miranda Horack —
The last couple weeks have been tough for Miranda. Worsening symptoms including headache, loss of balance causing falls and most recently weakening of now the left side. She is currently getting daily visits at home from PT and OT. She just spent the last 2 days admitted to the hospital for a headache. They did a new MRI which showed most likely progression of the tumor on the brain stem even in the last 2 weeks. So it appears radiation didn’t stop it. Dr said at this point treatments the risks might outweigh the benefits. Her left side has gotten very weak and hard to use, that is new since the right side has been the one affected up to this point. Her speech has gotten much worse. We started high dose of steroids so see if they will help with any possible swelling. She has a tough road ahead of her and will take it day by day right now. She cannot text back very well so messages are being relayed to her at this point. Thank you to everyone who has reached out it means the world to her!
