Millie’s Story

Site created on October 29, 2022

While at school on Thursday, October 20, my back started hurting.  The intensity of the pain escalated quickly and I began vomiting.  I went to see the school nurse.  She expressed her concern that I might have kidney stones and advised me to go to the ER.  A friend drove me and stayed with me until Connor could get there.  Bryan was able to get to the hospital a little later.  A CT scan didn't show kidney stones, but did show a mass on my liver.

My cancer is considered very rare.  Only about 10,000 people are diagnosed each year.  Sadly, most cases are not diagnosed until the cancer has reached stage IV.  God truly isn't finished with me yet.  Below is a link for information about a study being conducted to help researchers learn more about cholangiocarcinoma.  Researchers need participants that have had the cancer AND those that have NOT.  The study requires a simple blood draw.  The study will mail you the kit and a provider of your choosing can draw the blood.  All at no cost to you.  Thank you in advance for your help!
