Journal entry by Hannah Schultz

Hi everyone! Millie had her head ultrasound this morning. She had a very small increase in ventricle size but otherwise her head circumference is stable and she still has soft spots on her head, so no brain shunts needed for now! They will do another ultrasound next Monday if she’s still here, otherwise they’ll do one 2-3 weeks at her checkup after discharge.
She is having some leakage from her back from her skin closure last week, but it has slowed down. The surgery team said they sent in a sample to a lab to test for sure if it’s spinal fluid, but their suspicions are very low. They are starting her on a preventative antibiotic in the meantime and continuing with sterile dressing changes. Now we just wait for the leaking to stop so we can continue with more of her testing for going home!
Millie has been eating very well and sleeping like an angel! She is over 5lbs again and still kicking and moving her legs perfectly. We are eager for her back to heal fully so we can finish our tests and take her home!
