Miles was diagnosed with A rare heart defect called hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS) when i was around 20 weeks pregnant. Only a 1000 babies a year are born in the US with HLHS. These heart defects are develope during the 1st month of pregnancy (cannot be prevented). Our baby will need 3 open heart surgeries before he is 3 years old and have to see a cardiologist the rest of his life. Though He will have a rough start i can already tell our baby is a fighter.
HLHS definition: underdeveloped left heart including aorta, aortic valve, mitral valve, left ventricle
