Day +269:  Mike and I hope you had a very nice Easter. We have been able to attend church for the past two Sundays as well as Easter week services! It had been so long since we were able to attend.
A couple of weeks ago, the Drs said we could go to the beach!! It was a little breezy but we didn’t care. Sam, Ruth and Jenny went too so we had a lot of entertainment. You would have thought that it was the middle of summer. Those wonderful grands had on bathing suits and played in the water and on the sand. We loved watching them. Since the beach trip, Mike has really felt better. He is more active and less winded. I think another trip is needed once it warms up a little.
Mike had his chimerism and bone marrow checked about a month ago. The chimarism was up to 98% - up from 96% but not at 100%. His bone marrow showed he still had no active leukemia cells so is still in remission. However, the molecular test at the Mayo Clinic continued to show some bad molecules. So, what were the Drs advising?
On Thursday, Mike received a boost of donor cells. It was a very small amount but we hope these cells will wake up the other cells and get them busy. His donor had given extra cells, thank goodness.
Another chimerism was done two weeks ago and he is 100% donor! Speaking of his donor, we have heard from him. We still don’t know where he is in Europe. Mike responded immediately. We hope this communication continues.
So, now we wait to see his reaction to the new cells. Hopefully, nothing . We are in the house again and staying close to home. No church this week.
An update on Michael. He has heard from the cardiologist at MUSC and will have a phone conference with her on April 15. He is very concerned as we all are, and wants this blockage fixed. He is quite impatient as I would be also. Hopefully, soon.
Thank you for all of your cards, calls and prayers. We couldn’t do this without all of you. We know your prayers are being heard as Mike continues to be in remission.
Enjoy this spring weather before the heat of summer is beating down on us!
