Journal

Hi everyone! Kelsee here. I wanted to jump on and do an update on Dad.  He has had a rough few weeks.  He started experiencing some vertigo and falling, especially at night getting in and out of bed.  At the same time he has been losing weight and not had much of an appetite.  Mom was getting concerned when all he wanted to do was sleep and she was noticing a change in his desire to engage. So the doctor said it’s more then likely one of three things, the chemo, the cancer, or the chemo affecting his adrenal glands. After some tests she ruled out the adrenal glands so she took him off chemo for two weeks to see if he would Pep up a little. It did help  with the energy levels and he has had more of a desire to eat. However he was still experiencing dizziness. This time the call to the doctor sent him to the emergency room because they were concerned it could be mini strokes he was experiencing. After almost an entire day in the ER last Tuesday they did not find anything concrete as to why he was falling. So they ordered an MRI to see what the tumors looked like. This is where we get to the good news! He has had no new growths and the larger tumors have not grown! So as far as the vertigo goes they took him off one med that he takes at night (with vertigo as a possible side effect) and that has seemed to help.

I just want to ask that we continue to pray. Everyone who knows my Dad knows he loves people and he has so much joy and a love for life.  Things have been not only tough physically but also emotionally. Pain has taken over and it has caused Dad to retreat and not participate in life. His spirits are down and he is having a hard time pushing through all that he is dealing with. He needs relief.  With so much pain he has no quality of life. We do not have an easy solution for this. He is on so many meds and takes pain relievers but they do not scratch the surface of what he is feeling.  We know that half the battle when you have cancer is the fight to keep going on, and to keep your spirits up. He has recognized this and after some prompting he has been doing some laps up and down the street each day. He also never misses a Sunday morning at church.  We had a family dinner this last week and sat around the fire, and went to see Jurassic park last night! So we did see a little more energy and the desire to go out this week praise Jesus!

Let’s continue to help my Dad fight and petitioning the throne of God with your prayers! Pray for pain relief and the spirit of joy to be returned. We know that God is good and he is faithful. So we will stand in his promises and in Him find hope.  One day at a time. We love you all ❤️
