Mike had a pretty good day. His volunteers were Adam & Julie 9-1, Casey 1-4, Bruce Ravan 5 till Patsy arrived for the night shift. The hospice nurse came in the morning and bathed him & got him into clean clothes.
Mike's son Eric will be arriving Thursday night and returning back to Savannah on Sunday morning. I have not scheduled anyone to be with Mike on Saturday while Eric is here.
Anyone who is able to stay through the night with Mike, please contact Merle Robbins (850) 803-0750. Merle will be taking over Mike's calendar and scheduling all volunteers for the month of June. As of now, I have filled his schedule with volunteers for the rest of May. If you can help, we need volunteers beginning Monday June 1. The block of times are 9-1, 1-5 and someone who can come for 1-2 hours 5-6 until the night person arrives. We also need volunteers for the night shift. Mike's cousin Patsy has been staying as often as she can, Vince Brunner has stayed one night and Gary Ziegler has stayed a couple of times. We need other volunteers to give these folks a break.
Mike has a GI suction tube that pumps his stomach throughout the day and night as needed. He needs someone to turn the machine on and off and when it's full, to empty the contents in the toilet and reconnect the tubing. It's not that difficult and there are typed instructions by the machine. Mike also needs help with his medications. Three are taken at the same time, and another at a different time. When he takes his meds or drinks anything for nutrition, the pump must be turned off for an hour and the turned back on.
Lets remember to continue praying for Mike and his family. This is a difficult time for them. Linda "out"
