Journal

6 days we have now been without Dad and it hasn’t gotten any easier. The day he passed it was a pretty day and this week it was very gloomy.  Mitch said Dad made it rain so he couldn’t work. Last night was hard, but wow.  Visitation was a testament of how he loved life and people.    We loved hearing Dad stories!  Please,  keep them coming

Today Dad took his final ride and what a beautiful day it was. Thank you to everyone who helped make it so beautiful.  Pastor Wright had the most perfect sermon.  Sarah, Rachel, and Kendra sang the most beautiful rendition of, On Eagles Wings. Sheryl thank you for playing.  Kenny Mercier and Ladies Aid were outstanding.

For that final ride, Dad was pulled by a beautiful International tractor on a trailer to his resting place. Thank you to Kevin and Brian for helping make that possible. It was the perfect. Michael drove the tractor wearing an old Triple M pulling shirt. The pallbearers had matching hats and shirts for Double M Farms and Excavating.  We passed the ACHS baseball field and the young men stopped playing, removed their hats, and payed respects to him as we passed.  Altamont proud!  To conclude the service, we had Diet Coke at graveside in his honor

Thank you to each every one of you that has been with us on this journey and followed a long. Thank you to those that made tributes to Caring Bridge. This site is free to those who use it and it is funded by those tributes!  We were very thankful for caring bridge. We certainly felt all the love, prayers, support, and hugs these past several months.  I know I can speak for mom and my siblings, when I say a piece of our hearts went to Heaven with him last week.  We have to remember there are no scars in heaven and he certainly gained a lot, these past few months. So as hard as it was to let him go he didn’t need more scars.

One other thing Dad said to me back on February 17th before he got bad was, “let’s take a trip when I get out of here”.  So make sure you all take the trip, life is too short.

This will likely be our last post and it feels odd as it became part of our new normal.  I really hate writing; Kristy probably likes it more, nonetheless it helped us all get through this. Pray for us as we adjust to yet another new normal.

Dad, as Cooper Alan sings, “we will never not remember you”.  Great song if you haven’t heard it.  Rest easy Dad!!!

Always Remember…….

Pray..Wait..Trust
