Mike’s Story

Site created on September 6, 2020

In August 2020, Mike was diagnosed (through various scopes, scans, and tests) with rectal cancer. What we thought were ‘symptoms’ of the type of living schedule he was keeping while caring for his father round the clock, were ‘symptoms’ of something more serious. As we trust the Lord God to continue caring for Mike, we thank you for your prayers to the Lord God for him. God bless and keep you! We will keep you updated through the CaringBridge journal entries.

Hello Tabor Family and Friends!
Long story short, we had an eventful 3am early morning, with positive results, and the rest of this day filled with much needed sleep, and taking some pain med.

Mike woke 3am with intense pain in his abdominal area and shoulder. We drove in to the Webster ER. And went through all the processes of ER protocol: questions, finding vessels for iv placement, lab work, X-ray, ct scan. Waiting for scans to be read by the radiologist and sent to Dr. Steers in SF for further confirmation.

Results:
He did not have clotting.
He did not have infection.
He did not have heart issues.
The ct of the liver looks just like it should after an ablation.
(Thanking the Lord these items are clear!)
Be sure to take pain medicine, and stay ahead of the pain.
Rest. And rest some more, so the burned liver area can heal and the areas traumatized can heal.

Thank you for praying for Pastor Mike as he rests here at home these next couple days!
God is faithful and ever present! We thank Him for the caring ladies who took care of him this morning at the ER! We thank Him for our caring and praying family, church family, and friends!

Mike was his usual talkative, sharing self while visiting with the staff this morning. They were praying. They needed to find a vessel for the iv.  And you all have been praying!
Thank you! He had me find the Ricky Scaggs song ‘Somebody’s Praying For Me’ and play it for the nurses. Those lyrics have become his go-to song these past months of cancer, treatments, surgeries, and healing.

This link should take you to a recording of Ricky Scaggs performing at a Gaither Sing Fest, if I did this correctly.

As a specific request, please add prayers for his digestive tract to start moving appropriately. Thank you! Thanking the Lord!

We realize yesterday was a blessing from God, with how good Mike was feeling, and today we realize what a blessing: to rely on God, and those who are skilled and knowledgeable in the area of healthcare and pain management, and empathize and encourage their pained patients, and those who see them in pain.

Now May the God of Hope fill you with all Joy and Peace in believing, so you will abound in Hope by the Power of the Holy Spirit! Romans 15:13
