Journal entry by Patty Mace

Last week Thursday we ended up in the ER till about 3:00 in the morning with fever.  We were told that if Mikes fever goes above 100.4 he is to go into the ER.  Well his fever reached 101.7 and after an hour or so on Tylenol it only went down to 101.4 so we went in.  Wouldn't you know that by the time we got to the ER and he was examined his fever was normal.  They were very very thorough which we both really liked and they checked bloodwork twice, he had an EKG and a chest x-ray and last but not least his most favorite of all the dreaded covid test.  Mike said the nurse went up so high she touched his eyeballs. lol  Through all of this Mike still has his sense of humor and he is always happy and positive (except when I make him go to the ER than he is not so happy).  On September 21st we met Mike's new oncologist because his previous Dr. Trivetti is moving back to Philadelphia.  We will meet again with him on October 5th.  We also have an appointment at the Mayo Clinic on October 26th for a consult and second opinion.  I will report on the findings during that visit when we get back from the Mayo.  The doctor has come to the conclusion that the fevers that Mike gets here and there are caused by the chemo and we just need to keep an eye on them.  If they go down with Tylenol and he has no pain we do not have to go to the ER.  That made him very happy.  His weight is still going up and down but he still has a very healthy appetite so that is very good.  He looks great and he said he feels good.  So at this point he will continue to have chemo every other week until December and then he will have another CT to see where he is at with everything.  The doctor said he can take time off of chemo here and there if he needs too so he is taking a week off during deer hunting.  Keep up those wonderful thoughts and prayers they are helping tremendously. Fight Like Mike!
