Journal

I wanted to make a final post, signing off.  It's bittersweet and not with the ending we all hoped and prayed for. We do take some comfort in the fact that Mike is at peace and no longer in pain and suffering.  It's impossible for any of us to express the amount of gratitude we have for so many individuals, groups and our community.  I have always loved Lindstrom, loved raising our kids here, but wow.......I know that this wouldn't have been the same experience anywhere else.  We felt the prayers, we felt the support, we felt the love each and every step of the way.  The donations, the meals, the gifts, the calls, cards, and letters were all so overwhelming in a good way!  The Lindstrom Fire Dept was so incredible, beyond our wildest dreams, with a special shout out to Chief Scott Sellman and his wife Jody, who really were there at our beck and call without fail.  The many surrounding fire departments that rallied around us and collected donations and were there in full force at Mike's service, we can't thank you enough and we are all so proud to be associated with all of you.
Reality is beginning to sink in and I just didn't want things to be "over" for my kids.  I envisioned making them each a book/binder of stories that people have of Mike, and boy do I know there are a LOT!  Jody Sellman had the great idea to create an email just for people to type up their personal memories and stories with Mike, even if it's just a sentence or two.  We are planning a celebration of life in August for Mike's 50th birthday and so the goal will be to have a nice compilation of stories by then so you have PLENTY of time to think or as memories pop up you can jot them down for us.  The email is LFD29memories@gmail.com, share this with anyone that may not see this.  There are also talks about doing an annual bike ride in Mike's honor every year and we are hoping to tie the first one in with his 50th birthday celebration.  So more to come on everything just not on this medium.  We will never forget #29, and we promise to keep your memory alive.  ~Sarah (on behalf of the Gaustad family)
