Journal entry by Diana Brooks

Mike is truly amazing!  We had a long meeting with his new neurologist yesterday that went extremely well.

Mike’s brain has reabsorbed almost 70% of the brain bleed in three months which is miraculous given the size of the bleed. The doctors said the best they might have hoped for by now was 30-40%. His brain is otherwise in excellent shape.

Mike had a cerebral hemorrhage , not a stroke, and still unclear how it happened, but there are a few possibilities. We may never know the cause, but we are hopeful it will never happen again. Only time will tell and Mike will continue to have MRIs for the rest of his life.

Mike is working hard and doing really well at PT and Cognitive Therapy which will also continue for a long time. He had two fabulous women and has become great pals with both! Of course, as soon as the cognitive therapist told him that her daughter was applying to Yale, his appreciation for her went sky high!

Mike is loving seeing people again and participating in some activities. His sense of humor is very much intact- and he says whatever he feels all day long ?!

He continues to fight with technology, but that will HOPEFULLY improve soon- we need it to!

If you had told us three months ago that Mike would do this well so quickly, we wouldn’t have believed it. We are truly blessed and so appreciative.

Thanking you all always for your thoughtfulness and support.

Vintage Mike Brooks- Yale has won 3 hockey games in a row and they play Harvard tonight. He travelled with Chris and the team to Slovenia and Austria this summer, so he is really devoted to this group of guys and he is so pumped about tonight. He has his seat ready, his phone alarm on and a ginger ale on the rocks waiting! Go YALE
