Newest Update

Journal entry by Matthew Pietrangelo

We officially hit Michelle’s 2 year survivaversary!

Over the past 4 months since the last update, Michelle has completed a full 3 months of rehabilitation at Spaulding. She had her feeding tube out in July and takes all her meds orally (twice a day) and food in normal meals now (she feeds herself).

She now goes to the bathroom on the toilet most of the time during her awake hours. She was treated for a UTI in June with antibiotics and has not really had fevers since then… which was an ongoing issue for months, so it was nice to get that back to normal

Her vocabulary and ability to communicate continues to improve on a daily basis. She also continues to become more and more opinionated again, which is great… even when she is telling me I am an idiot. :)

Her short term goals will be to continue to improve core strength and balance. The six month goal (in my head) is to get to the point she can stand with a walker on her own. We also continue to work on stretching and loosening up everything to where she will be able to fully utilize it as things progress in her brain over time.

Michelle loves visits and FaceTimes, so if you are available and want to connect, let me know!
