Journal entry by Rya Johnson —
Many have been asking how mom is doing these days! I was waiting to send out an update until I had confirmed dates and new news.
First, mom's spirits are up and the move back to the cities is 98% complete and they are all settled into a new routine with more family support nearby. Second, chemo went very well with only a few minor side effects! Finally, this past month she has been in appointments daily to get ready for her bone marrow transplant, which we learned this morning is a go for Tuesday 11/30/21. We are very anxious to move forward with this step and a little nervous. For the following 30 days, mom, Rick and grandma will be under strict isolation to ensure mom does not pick up any viruses. She will be extremely immunocompromised, so please send your thoughts from a distance. Jake, Kori and I will be their runners for any amenities they need that cannot be ordered online. I will be Rick's back-up in case they need any help with care, housekeeping, grandma's needs and anything else.
Mom has her sewing room all setup and cozy knitting chairs all over the house in hopes that she will feel good enough at times to enjoy her hobbies.
Please share your well wishes and send holiday cheer their way! I will post next week after the transplant.
