PET Scan

After a restless night with little sleep it was time to head to Sioux Falls for my first PET Scan after my cancer treatments.  So many thoughts were running through my head that night.  First, I did not want to go through treatments again, having a month to recover has been too great to start over.  Second, I need keep building my strength to help Cassi around the house and be myself for our baby boy’s birth.

We started the day off doing lab work, getting the scan done and eating Buffalo Wild Wings in Falls Park while we waited on the news.  I’ve never been so nervous sitting in a doctor’s office. When Dr. Vinod walked in and said, “congrats,” I was confused.  I had to ask him what he meant and he said the scan was cancer free.  It was such a relief and shock I didn’t know how to react.  I think Dr. Vinod showed more excitement than Cassi and I initially.

While the news was great, I will still go back for routine PET scans to make sure the cancer doesn’t come back.  But for now, I am going to enjoy healing, feeling good, and preparing for the new addition to our family.  As much as I want to get out and live free, the risk of COVID is way to high so as much as I want to see everyone and start getting back to normal it’s just not possible right now.
