One of the nice things about a small town is the ability to run a slightly longer obituary than you might elsewhere. Even so, there are so many things an obituary doesn't capture. This is a small sampling of the things we've heard about Dad from the hundreds of family members and friends who have written to us in the past few days. Extra points if you spot a theme:
He gave the best hugs.
He had a smile for everyone.
He always reminded us of what is most important in life, how truly precious family and friends are.
He always made me laugh.
Mike was one of my favorite people.
Every time I talked to Mike, even just for a minute, he always left me smiling and happy.
He was a great man and loved by so many.
Your Dad was such a respected role model and mentor to so many of us growing up.
He was always so positive and always had kind words for everyone.
Mike had a huge heart - he will be missed by all.
The world is a duller place without Mike Williams in it.
He always lit up the room with his sweet smile.
He was a great man, always loving and caring with a smile bigger than Texas.
He was such a happy, kind and gentle soul.
One of the happiest men I ever had the pleasure of knowing. Always had a smile and a story.
He was such a loving, happy, smart and funny man.
Mike was one of those locals you just loved running into, having a little visit and enjoying his Williams humor.
He was one in a million. There aren't many on earth like Mike.
One of my favorite things about him was his love for babies and children.
He never missed a chance to give a wave or stop for a visit.
A big loss for us but a wonderful addition to Heaven.
The community will never be the same without him.
What a great story-teller!
Angel on earth.
I feel blessed to have known him.
He gave so much to this community. A great man.
One of the best people I have ever known.
He gave so much to all of us.
I'll always be grateful to have had him in my life.
He was loved and known by thousands and the world is a little dimmer without his smile.
Thank you all for your love of our Dad. We are the luckiest two "kids" in the world.
