Journal entry by Michelle Connolly —
Michael is progressing. He has both eyes opened and responds to me or the kids. He gets excited when we speak to him. He moves his left hand and arm and taps his finger. He definitely needs something to hold. He tries to put his trachea collar off or his IV. He tried pulling on my watch. Not sure if it’s a movement he does or is trying to tell us something He has pulled his IV three times yesterday. And pulls his collar often. Morning nurse tells me he is up early and has his left leg on the floor. Collar pulled up his head. Tubing all out of sorts. He seems to be very active in the morning. Sleep pattern isn’t focused yet. His bed sore is still bad but is being treated. I have asked him if he was in pain and he responded by shaking his head no. And I asked him if he was comfortable and he responded by shaking his head yes. His facial gestures tell me his response.
