Michael’s Story

Site created on June 14, 2022

Michael Mulligan is a journeyman  lineman for Laclede Electric in Waynesville, MO. He has been married to his wife Michelle for six years in July. Together they have two beautiful kids, Macy(5) and Maddux(2). They attend Beulah Baptist Church and are active members in their community. Michael is a fun person to be around, always positive, caring, and can make anyone laugh. He also enjoys cooking and smoking meats and sharing it with other people.

On June 13, 2022 Michael was diagnosed with Burkitt Lymphoma. This is a rare, but highly aggressive form of non-Hodgkin's lymphoma in which cancer starts in immune cells called B-cells. While this is treatable, he was also diagnosed with COVID at the same time he learned he had cancer, which makes the treatment plan challenging. As of June 12, he is intubated in the ICU as his neck mass blocks his airway. Michael has a positive attitude, is alert, and is even writing notes, waving, and giving a thumbs up.

Throughout this journey Michael has kept an amazingly positive attitude and believes and continually writes,  "this is just a bump in the road and we'll make it through no problem. The good Lord is going to make the devil a fool with this testimony."

We appreciate your support and encouragement. While this is a very difficult time, we are trusting the outcome to God and grateful to people like you lifting us up in prayer. Thank you for visiting.

Journal entry by Lisa Jarrett

Wrap up from the last few weeks: Michael finished 10 sessions of radiation without any serious side effects, had a PEG feeding tube placed and is still being treated for a strep pneumonia. He’s fought hard trying to deal with increasing pain and new symptoms. We’ve endured many tough conversations with physicians on what the future holds for Michael. Wednesday he started a chemo treatment that will hopefully give him some temporary relief from the disease progression that is affecting both his arms, and his eye. As of this morning he is feeling the best he has in several weeks. We are extremely thankful for that. He remains in the hospital and will be monitored while he recovers from chemo. As always we remain hopeful that God provides a miracle. 🙏🏻 Please keep those prayers coming. ❤️
