Newest Update

Journal entry by Keriann Shomon

Time flies – Micah is officially one year old! We just had to share a little update on what our little guy has been up to lately.

Micah's latest obsessions? Well, let's say he's head over heels for our furry friends – he adores our dogs! And when it comes to food, this boy's got quite the palate. Lately, his favorites include raspberries, breakfast sausage, bananas, and, of course, pizza!

On the health front, Micah has been putting in serious work with his physical and occupational therapy to strengthen his left side. We've also made significant progress since leaving the NICU last April – we've even knocked a few doctors off our follow-up list!

Little Micah is growing like a champ, weighing in at 20lbs and standing tall at 29 inches. His favorite pastime? Watching Sing 1 and Sing 2 with Dad!

Reflecting on our journey, we're incredibly grateful for the unwavering support from our amazing medical team at Lurie Children's Hospital. And speaking of gratitude for Micah's birthday, we asked for donations to the Jackson Chance Foundation. The same foundation helped us immensely by covering our parking fees during our NICU days. It's our little way of paying it forward and supporting families in similar situations.

Some days, I still can’t believe how far we’ve come. From my mom sleeping over to help me get adjusted and my angel of a neighbor coming over every day at 9 am & 9 pm for two months to help me manage Micah’s medication to getting ready to head to Spring Training to experience baseball life at its fullest as a family.

We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to all of you for being our biggest cheerleaders and support system throughout this incredible first year with Micah. Your love and encouragement mean the world to us – thank you, thank you, thank you.

Here's to many more milestones and memories with our little boy!
