Hello World!

It’s been a while! Where to start…. Well I ended my 100 days post transplant on December 22nd, 2023. It was bittersweet to leave OHSU and I have nothing but gratitude for all they have given me. My doctor there was the best and all the nurses will be forever in my heart. I had a bone marrow biopsy at day 100 and it came back clean :) What a blessing that truly is.

I was also able to get my first vaccinations! Since then I have had another dose of vaccines (flu, pneumonia and Covid)

I moved back to Kaiser and it was so good to see my original doctor- so much happened and so fast. But she was so happy with how everything looked and how I was. While there are so many things to be thankful for I entered this new phase of recovery that has been uncharted territory.

I was in survival mode for so long that it’s hard to feel what actual recovery is. It’s hard to sit with your own thoughts, it’s hard to slow down and not constantly be in fear. Cancer doesn’t just leave, it doesn’t just go away and you’re done. It becomes part of you and everyday I’m reminded of it constantly.

So, even though I’m in this uncharted territory I’m learning everyday how to live again, allowing myself to feel whatever I need to in that moment.

I’m hopeful that 2024 will be a better year- and so far it is, see below for the newest update. Denali came into our family at just the right time.

Much love to you all,

Merri
