Hi Friends,

I wish I could reach out to each of you who has expressed interest in how I am doing.  Since this is a challenge right now, we have chosen this platform to make it easier for all of us to stay connected and share updates.

The latest -- I have been diagnosed with Stage 4 Non-Small-Cell Metastatic Lung Cancer.  It came as a surprise in the last month.  I have already received three weeks of radiation and will start Chemo on Monday, October 31st. I am feeling good in spite of pain which is nicely controlled with medicine. I have a great support system here locally to look after me, bring me meals and support Fred who is a wonderful caretaker and wheelchair chauffeur. I enjoyed two weeks of my family here around me with children and grandchildren bringing joy into the household. 

So many of you have asked "What can I do?" Please feel free to post messages here (under "Well Wishes" section.)  We will be keeping you posted under the "Journal" section, and I will be following along to keep in touch with you, my beloved community.  

Also, this platform has a feature which makes it easier to coordinate ways help. We are still figuring it out ourselves, but we want to automate your gestures of support so it doesn't fall on any one person to coordinate it manually.  My family is encouraging me to ask for support here to make it easier for everyone to help out.
